The activated carbon unit
A unit injecting powdered activated carbon has been in service since April 2000. Injected in the form of a suspension (a mixture of water and carbon) during the pretreatment phase, the carbon attracts pesticide molecules which, once weighted in this way, sink to the bottom of the sedimentation tanks.
This process is especially useful in flood periods, when the waters of the Marne receive run-off from the surrounding agricultural land.
